Privacy
What Accretion keeps, why, and how to remove it.
Browsing without an account
The website has no ads, no tracking cookies and no profiles. Your saved apps and last-visit date stay in your own browser (local storage) and never leave your device.
Anonymous app counts
To learn which apps people want, the store counts how often an app is opened from a search, viewed or installed, and which searches find nothing. Each visitor counts once per app per day. No account, cookie or IP address is stored with these counts: your connection is turned into a salted one-way code that changes every day and is deleted after two days. The totals per app are public; searches that found nothing are seen only by moderators.
Ads in the iOS app
While an app downloads, the Accretion iOS app shows one ad from Google AdMob. To pick and measure ads, Google receives technical details from your device, such as your IP address, device model, iOS version and whether you tap the ad: see how Google uses this information. Accretion doesn't ask to track you across apps, so your device's advertising identifier isn't used, and Accretion never gives Google your account, email or the apps you install. Supporters don't see ads.
If you create an account
Accounts run on Supabase, which stores:
- your email address and a securely hashed password, used only to sign you in and for sign-in or reset emails;
- your username, display name, bio and avatar color, which are public;
- your posts, comments, likes, ratings and follows, which are public;
- reports you file, which only moderators can see;
- your notifications, which only you can see.
If you sign in with Apple, Google, GitHub or Discord, that service tells Accretion your email address, your name, and your handle where it has one. These pre-fill your profile, and you can change them. With Apple you can choose "Hide My Email", and Accretion then only sees a private relay address. Accretion never receives your password for those services and can't post on them.
Your email is never shown to other users or moderators. Your account data is never sold or shared for advertising.
Deleting your account
Signed in, open your profile, tap Edit profile, then Delete account. Your account, profile, posts, likes, ratings and follows are deleted right away.
